Tinian 1946 |
In 1946 Master Sgt. Eldred E. (Bud) Crager was sent to Tinian to destroy war
material. He said they would load a bulldozer or road grader on a barge along
with trucks, jeeps, and other military equipment. They would then tow the
barge out to sea, where he would use the bulldozer or road grader to push the
equipment off the barge and then jump off the bulldozer and let it go into the
sea. Then he said, "We'd go back and do it again." He said they would take hundreds of wristwatches and put them on the airfield's runway. Then take a steamroller and crush the watches.
